In This book, Friedhoff distinguishes between preconscious and conscious visual processes, as most of the still only partially-understood process of perception are hidden below our awareness. They must be discovered by experiments of the brain sciences, mainly cognitive psychology and physiology, with suggestions from the successes and failure of attempts to make machines capable of seeing. The central point that this book makes is that the newly discovered precocious processes of human vision can be tapped and used to powerful effect by computer images - especially by computer graphics to suggest ideas.
